Useful Information

New oak frame, Lydney, Gloucestershire 2008/09

A rare opportunity to use one of the oldest methods of infill, wattle (cleft staves and laths) and daub (clay, lime, straw and hair). The traditional cladding masks high performance insulation. The panels are at the scratch coat stage and will receive a lime render finish and limewash after the frame has been standing for a year.

Croesllanfo Barn, Wales 2008
A new green oak roof for a large, listed cruciform shaped barn originally built in the early 1800's. The roof consists of five main trusses spanning 7 metres and five smaller trusses for the wing sections spanning 5.5 metres.

New Frame Ledbury - 2007

A three bay building just erected for a client in Ledbury. The original plans only provided for garaging and storage. By re-designing the roof structure, using truncated or interupted tie beams and butt purlins as well as lifting the top plate, produced ample first floor accommodation with headroom over an area of 3ms x 9ms and usable floor space of 6ms x 9ms. Access to the first floor is from an external staircase.
